The thing about hardscape is that once you start you usually come back for more. It almost becomes something you collect. Don’t believe us? Ask anyone who has lots of it – they often didn’t do it all at once. That can be for different reasons. Sometimes because they didn’t realize how much they would love it. Sometimes it’s a budget reason and other times it can be because they just like adding on to it year after year.
Regardless of the reason, we don’t mind and like coming back. We want to work with you for years to come so “add ons” are okay in our book. This project was an add on to a firepit area we already did.
We used the same EP Henry Bristol stone pavers that were used in the patio area to create a mini patio around the pit that matched the existing hardscape that was already installed. We outlined it with a charcoal border.
The mini patio is awesome for a few reasons. The first is that it looks great and totally ties the pit in with all the other hardscape features in the backyard. The second reason is safety. Before the mini patio was there it was just the pit with grass and chairs. This can be dangerous if there are any sparks that fly from the fire. It’s really recommended that you have this patio area if you are planning for a pit. Lastly, the space is great because it makes mowing much easier. Before this area was installed, mowing was a pain because all the adirondack chairs around the pit had to be moved every time and they are pretty heavy.
We love how it turned out. It looks awesome from above when looking at it from the deck view. We foresee lots of summer nights spent out here in this space in the coming months.
