This family came to us asking if we would take on a late fall hardscape install. At first we hesitated and thought we should wait until early spring because of the end of season, but we had such a mild fall we decided to take it on and go for it. It was our last hardscape project for 2021 and we love how it turned out. Take a look at the steps we took to make the transformation happen here in Lincoln Hills. Above is a before picture of how the yard looked prior to kick off.
Dig day happened under some unusually warm and sunny November skies. We were grateful for that. Dry weather is your friend when doing projects like this.
After the installation of the base aggregate, we began the project by building the outside perimeter sitting walls and columns. The project was built out of all Oberfields materials.
The texture and size of the wall block materials really made a statement. The homeowners had great taste when they selected this product.
The space was now ready for caps on the walls and columns at this point. A different view of the project site prior to capping.
We use a special tool that helps to make this process much easier than lifting the caps by hand. It uses a suction technology that allows us to lift the caps with our machine effortlessly and place them safely where they need to go.
This wood box was built to be the foundation for the outside wood fired oven.
A side view of the progress with the caps placed. As you can see it’s really a statement wall. After installing the fire feature we got busy installing the patio pavers.
The colors in the paver coordinate well with the brick on their home. The tan brings out the wall block nicely. Also the grays with the caps and fire feature block. You can see how it all matches here from this view.
On each side of the patio we also built out a small walkway.
This small pad is actually built on the other side of the house. They had asked for a tiny walkout space from their basement entry.
This is a view of some of the final pieces being placed. This natural cut stone cap we installed for the woodbox is actually a custom special order piece. This is what we placed the wood fire oven on top of. This piece took a few months to get in. It actually was made and shipped from Portugal.
Smiling here as we got to see it all come together. Talk about a neat thing to have in your backyard! We were really excited for this family to have it all finished up. Carelli family- thanks for hiring us to take on your beautiful outdoor living space. We hope you love it as much as we do. Your space is stunning.
