Before joining Scaped Outdoors full time, Kevin worked as a superintendent in site construction in the natural gas and oil industry. While he was there, he oversaw the construction of well pads, roads, ponds, drainage features and slip remediation.  He now works full time at Scaped Outdoors and leads all of our hardscape installs and excavation work. Kevin first got into hardscape as a hobby when he began projects around our own home. After he installed our entire driveway all by himself, he was hooked on the art of hardscape. Soon after, he enrolled in a training program to become a certified concrete paver installer thru the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute. From there, he began dreaming up other projects he was going to complete around our home and paving the way to start his own business.   Kevin has an eye for detail and is incredibly precise. If what he is working on is not perfect, he won’t stop until it is. If you want anyone doing this kind of work for you around your own home, he is the guy for the job. You will be amazed at his precision and hard pressed to find anyone better at excavation and hardscaping than him.

Sarah’s background is in education and business. She got her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2009 where she studied business computer and information technology education. Her certification is K-12 in Pennsylvania. She spent the early part of her career teaching business at State College Area High School. While we lived in State College, she worked on her Master’s degree from Penn State where she studied Educational Leadership. With a background in network marketing and sales, Sarah now leads the business side of Scaped Outdoors, though you’ll occasionally find her on a job site alongside the crew. As your guide through the sales process, she’ll be your first point of contact when scheduling your new client appointment, join Kevin for your on-site visit, and walk you through every design selection. Once your project is complete, she’ll follow up to hear about your experience and may reach out for permission to share your story across our social media. Sarah is currently enrolled in the Penn State Master Gardener program to continue to deepen her horticulture knowledge and better serve our clients based on research informed practices. This role requires a lot of volunteer time, so you just may see her out serving in our community at various events- be sure to say hello if you do.

Carter is our son, and during the summer months you'll find him on site being mentored by Kevin as he learns the trade. As business owners, we believe in teaching entrepreneurship to all of our children, instilling a strong work ethic and a real understanding of how a business runs.  Mentoring the next generation and passing on the craft is something we want our company to be known for.
