A little look at the starting point on the project we just finished.

It really is wild when you compare the amount of change that happened here.

Nothing beats the feeling of driving away from the

Nothing beats the feeling of driving away from the project for the last time knowing you are handing the space back to the homeowners so they can begin making what you built for them their own.

Late last week, we got to do just that on this project Kevin completed out in Mt. Lebanon.

It’s really amazing when you compare the space from when he first arrived on site to how he left it. It’s a totally new look. We hope the homeowners love it and enjoy it for years to come.

Just leaving you all a little note to let you know Scaped will be closed for the next two weeks while we travel across the world to support our son Carter in Budapest, Hungary.

He will be participating in the World Association of Kickboxing Organization junior world championships as a member of Team USA.

Sarah will still be returning calls, emails and setting up appointments for when we return.

Thanks in advance for your patience while we take a pause for this accomplishment and opportunity and enjoy one of the true perks of entrepreneurship- the freedom of time.

First stop London- should be to Budapest later in the day tomorrow. ✈️

Kevin is going to miss this young man when he head

Kevin is going to miss this young man when he heads back to school shortly.

Carter has spent the summer apprenticing alongside his dad learning the ins and outs of hardscape and excavation.

This morning, I took a few minutes to have him reflect on his takeaways from his summer experience. Here is what he shared.

What’s your favorite part of hardscaping?
“When it’s time to lay the pavers out.”

What’s your least favorite part of hardscaping? “Doing the grading work.”

What’s one tool/ piece of equipment dad taught you how to use that you didn’t know how to before this summer?
“The skid loader and tamper.”

Why is dad a good contractor?
“He’s a really hard worker and he never stops. He doesn’t allow anything to be done incorrectly. If it is, he makes you start over and do it right. He’s also really honest with his customer and gives his truthful opinion on things to them about the project.”

Here’s to raising the next generation of hard workers. While at this point, we have no idea if this will be HIS future career, we do know for certain the skills will transfer over and help him a lot in life.

Thanks for your efforts this summer Carter. We are proud of you.
